The Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department operates four fire stations in three townships surrounding the City of Traverse City. Two of those fire stations are located in East Bay Township. There are currently two full time firefighters within the Metro Fire Department, located at the Garfield Township station. These two firefighters are supplemented by paid per call firefighters. Station 9, located on High Lake Road, houses an Engine, Tanker, Water Supply Truck, and a wildfire truck. Station 1, located on Three Mile Road in the Meadowland Industrial Park, houses an Engine, Heavy Rescue, Tanker, and a Hose Truck. Station 9 also houses an ATV vehicle, two snowmobiles, and a boat.
East Bay Township EMS also operates to of Station 9. East Bay Township EMS has one full time Paramedic / FF and one full time EMT / FF operating two Basic Life Support ambulances. Our staff is also supplemented by paid per call EMS personnel.
Greetings East Bay Township Residents,
The Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department has recently opened its newest fire station in East Bay Township. Our new fire station is located in the Meadowland Industrial Park off of North Three Mile Road. The centralized location of this station within the Metro Fire District is a great investment in the future growth and development of our area. Please feel free to stop by our new station if you would like to check out the inside.
We have two new recruits going to fire school and five of our current firefighters in an EMT class which should both be completed in early April. Our dedicated Fire and EMS personnel continue their education and training to offer the best possible service to our citizens.
As spring quickly approaches, I would like to take this time to remind all East Bay Township residents that open burning is NOT allowed in our township. Burning brush, leaves, grass clippings, and other yard waste is prohibited. Recreational camp fires are allowed, as long as there aren't any current burning restrictions. Please use common sense, and do not burn during times of dry and/or windy weather conditions.
I would like to thank our township citizens for their continued support, and encourage those of you who would like to learn more about our department or its operations to stop by one of our stations, or contact me personally. Be safe!
Tony Posey
